Hier nun der Piratenkodex,
kommentiert von Linguistikoffizier Christina und um einen zehnten Punkt ergänzt.

1. Every man shall obey civil Command; the Captain shall have one full share and a half in all Prizes; the Master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have one Share and quarter.

Okay, man hat zu spuren und wer ziemlich oben in der Kommandokette steht,
bekommt ein wenig mehr von der Beute ab. Damit kann ich leben.

2. If any man shall offer to run away, or keep any Secret from the Company,
he shall be maroon'd with one Bottle of Powder, one Bottle of Water, one small Arm and shot.

Wer abhaut oder Geheimnisse vor den anderen hat, ist eine Gefahr.
Denn man hat schließlich the entire Royal Navy gegen sich - da muß man zusammen halten.

3. If any Many shall steel any Thing in the Company, or game, to the Value of a Piece of Eight,
he shall be maroon'd or shot.

Geklaut wird nicht! Zumindest nicht untereinander...


4. If at any Time we should meet another Marooner(that is Pirate)
that Man that shall sign his Articles without the Consent of our Company,
shall suffer such Punishment as the Captain and Company shall think fit.

Ähm... wenn man auf die Konkurrenz trifft - das hab ich nicht ganz verstanden.
Kann das jemand erklären?

5. That Man that shall strike another whilst these Articles are in force,
shall receive Mose's Law (that is 40 stripes lacking one) on the bare Back.

Okay, während Verhandlungen (?) im Gange sind, wird sich nicht gekloppt -
sonst gibt's 40 Peitschenschläge minus einen auf den nackten Rücken. Autsch.

6. That Man that shall snap his Arms, or smoke Tobacco in the Hold,
without a cap to his Pipe, or carry a Candle lighted without a Lanthorn,
shall suffer the same Punishment as in the former Article.

Ist klar - wer einfach seine Waffe abfeuert, raucht oder eine Kerze anmacht,
wo man es sehen kann, der bringt das Schiff und die Mannschaft in Gefahr. Dös! Peitsche!

7. That Man that shall not keep his Arms clean, fit for an Engagement, or neglect his Business,
shall be cut off from his Share, and suffer such other Punishment as the Captain and the Company shall think fit.

Wer sich nicht um seine Ausrüstung kümmert, kann vielleicht im entscheidenden Moment nicht kämpfen.
Gefährdet die Gruppe (ich klinge wie ein Survival-Trainer). Bösä!

8. If any Man shall lose a Joint in time of an Engagement he shall have 400 pieces of Eight;
if a limb 800.

Das ist doch mal nett, bei Verlust von Körperteilen gibt's Schadenersatz...

9. If at any time you meet with a prudent Woman, that Man that offers to meddle with her,
without her Consent, shall suffer present Death.

Ah sieh mal einer an - Vergewaltigung wird mit dem sofortigen Tode bestraft.
Ich bin angenehm überrascht.
In einer anderen Form des Codoes heißt es übrigens,
daß man von einer Frau nichts nehmen darf,
was sie nicht selbst bereit ist zu geben...

10. Kein Pirat darf eine schon existierende FF erwähnen,
ohne der Crew unverzüglich den Link dazu bekanntzugeben.
(Ausnahmen sind: Im entstehen Begriffene FF's (siehe Vampy: between pride and honour),
und solche die schon vorher verlinkt wurden.)
Sollte ein Pirat Zweifel bezüglich der Perversität einer FF haben, so hat er sie nicht zu erwähnen,
oder es ist somit sein Problem.
